Sirui’s New BH-60 Tripod Head

Sirui’s new BH-60 Ball and Fluid Head is here, combining two different tripod head designs into one. The idea is pretty simple, instead of having to choose between a traditional ball head for photography and a fluid head for video, you can switch between the two depending on what you are shooting.
The BH-60 has two operating modes. In Ball Head Mode, you can freely adjust the camera’s position, making it easier to find the composition you want. Change to Pan-Tilt Mode, and the integrated fluid damping system allows for smoother, more controlled movements when recording video. The head offers a ±40-degree tilt range and comes with a detachable 230mm control handle, which can be mounted on either side. You can also remove the handle completely when you are just taking photos and do not need the extra control. Another useful feature is the independent panoramic locking system, which allows for 360-degree rotation without having to unlock the entire head.
As for the construction, Sirui has gone with an aluminium alloy body, along with a dual-locking mechanism and an Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release plate with a safety lock. The head supports a maximum load of 5kg, which should be enough for most mirrorless camera setups, including combinations with larger telephoto zoom lenses. Of course, a dedicated video fluid head might still be the better choice for more demanding filmmaking setups, particularly when working with heavier equipment or needing more precise movement control. The Sirui BH-60 Ball and Fluid Head is priced at $219.
