Luminar’s Upcoming Autumn Update

Skylum has announced a new autumn update for Luminar, bringing several new editing features, improvements to existing tools and a redesigned export system. One of the biggest additions is a dedicated print mode, which allows you to prepare and order physical prints directly from the software. The export window has also been redesigned and now opens in full-screen mode with a live preview. You can add text or photo watermarks, remove individual photos from the export queue and choose specific export dimensions. Luminar will also remember your settings for the next time. As for printing, the new mode supports ICC profiles and soft-proofing, allowing you to preview how your photos should look on paper before exporting them as print-ready JPEG or PDF files. You can also order prints directly through Luminar, with options including fine-art prints, framed photos, posters, canvas and metal prints. The actual printing and pricing are handled by third-party providers.
There are also a few changes to the editing tools themselves. Crop AI can now suggest up to 12 different compositions, using guidelines such as the rule of thirds, golden ratio and golden spiral. There is also a new automatic horizon-straightening option. Atmosphere AI has been updated to create more realistic-looking fog by treating it as a three-dimensional volume that responds to the lighting and colours in your photo. You can adjust how high the fog sits and how it moves through the scene. Skylum also reworked Enhance AI to produce more natural results, particularly when using stronger adjustments. According to the company, the updated tool should do a better job of avoiding oversaturated colours, blown highlights and unwanted halos.
The update also brings Luminar on the Web, a browser-based version of the editor that supports RAW files and allows you to work without installing the desktop application. Another update focused on masking tools is already planned for the end of November. All of this comes shortly after Skylum announced that it would be shutting down its separate portrait editor, Aperty, on November 4, with the company now putting more of its attention into Luminar. The autumn update will be available to all users starting October 28, 2026.
