Leica’s Updated iPhone Camera App
Leica Lux 2.0 is here, and the company is calling it the biggest update yet to its iPhone camera app. The app has been given a fairly substantial redesign, with a new interface that more closely matches the Leica Fotos app and incorporates parts of Apple’s Liquid Glass design introduced with iOS 26. There is also a redesigned gallery with a filmstrip for moving between individual photos and a grid view with multi-select, making it easier to manage larger groups of shots. Lightroom and Capture One can now be opened directly from Lux as well when you want to continue editing elsewhere.
The update also adds support for the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with Leica saying it has made additional optimisations specifically for the cameras in those phones. Lux already provides manual control over focus, exposure, ISO and white balance across supported iPhones. Leica did not say whether Lux can control the variable aperture on the iPhone 18 Pro models, so that is still unclear. Beyond the camera controls, version 2.0 also brings smaller interface changes, including app icons inspired by classic Leica cameras.
The other big addition is a new Steve McCurry Artist Look, developed together with the photographer and built around the way he uses colour, light and contrast. It is not supposed to recreate McCurry’s photos, but instead provide a colour starting point influenced by his work. This is Leica’s second Artist Look following its collaboration with Greg Williams in 2025, and the company says more photographer collaborations are planned. The McCurry look is not limited to iPhone photography either, as it is also available for the Leica Q3 and SL3 through the Leica Fotos app. Leica Lux 2.0 is available now for iPhone.
