Gemini Gets Lightroom And Photoshop
Adobe is continuing to put its editing tools into AI chatbots, and Google Gemini is the latest platform to get them. The new Adobe integration brings tools from Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Express and Firefly directly into Gemini, meaning you can ask for edits through a normal conversation rather than opening the individual Adobe apps. It follows similar integrations Adobe has already introduced for ChatGPT, Claude, Slack and Microsoft Copilot, and gives Adobe access to another pretty big audience, with Gemini now used by more than a billion people each month.
One possible use-case that Adobe advertises is batch editing a large group of photos without having to work through them individually. You could upload a set of photos and ask Gemini to give them a consistent look, adjust lighting and colour, crop everything to a particular format and prepare the finished files for whatever you are working on. The integration can also create different versions of existing content for social media, while Adobe Express can be used to build customised templates.
Unsurprisingly, people seem pretty divided on the idea so far, and some just are not fans of this direction at all. Part of the early reaction has been that tools like this remove another reason to actually learn Photoshop or Lightroom, particularly when many of these batch-editing jobs can already be done pretty quickly if you are experienced. Others see it differently, arguing that conversational editing could make Adobe’s tools easier for beginners while also saving people time on repetitive work. And then there are those who simply do not like the idea of handing more of the creative process over to AI in the first place. Adobe in Gemini has started rolling out across all Gemini plans, although an Adobe account is required to use it.
