Camp Snap’s New 110D Camera
Camp Snap has announced the 110D, a small screen-free digital camera that brings back the long, horizontal shape of classic 110 film cameras. The design takes some inspiration from cameras like the Minox and Lomography Lomomatic 110, giving it a slim body that can fit into a pocket or hang from a wrist strap or lanyard. It looks pretty different from Camp Snap’s other cameras, but underneath that new body, quite a bit of the hardware is actually familiar.
The 110D uses the same 8MP Sony IMX179 Type 1/3.2-inch CMOS sensor found in the Camp Snap 2, paired with a 4.2mm f/2 lens, equivalent to roughly 26mm f/11.5 on full frame. There is also a 30.5mm thread if you want to attach filters. A pre-installed 4GB microSD card can hold around 2,000 photos, and like other Camp Snap cameras, there is no rear screen for checking your shots afterward. You do get five built-in looks to choose from, Standard, Vintage 1, Vintage 2, Analog and Black & White. That is one fewer than the six options included with the Camp Snap 2.
There are a few smaller changes beyond the new body. Camp Snap says it has redesigned the shutter button to respond faster and give a more noticeable tactile click, while a new automatic sleep mode saves battery without making you switch the camera off between shots. Pressing the shutter wakes it back up, and battery life is rated at around 500 photos per charge. The memory card and settings compartment can also be screwed shut to stop accidental access. The Camp Snap 110D costs $75, comes in black or “Dreamcicle,” and will start shipping by mid-October.
