Viltrox’s New AF APS-C EVO Lenses Are Here

Viltrox’s two new APS-C autofocus portrait lenses have officially arrived with the launch of the AF 75mm f/1.8 EVO and AF 90mm f/2.2 EVO. Both lenses share a very similar design philosophy, focusing on relatively compact dimensions, lightweight construction, and autofocus while targeting different focal length preferences.

The 75mm f/1.8 EVO is the faster of the two and uses a 9-element, 11-group optical design, paired with a 9-blade aperture, 0.74m minimum focusing distance, and support for autofocus features including Eye AF.

Autofocus is handled through an STM motor, which should make focus transitions quieter during video recording. The lens uses 58mm filters, supports USB-C firmware updates, measures 69 × 69 × 76mm, and weighs 325g. On APS-C cameras, the focal length works out to roughly 112mm equivalent.

The 90mm f/2.2 EVO takes a slightly longer approach while staying almost identical physically. It uses an 8-group optical design with 10 elements, including two aspherical elements and two ED elements, while keeping the same 0.74m minimum focusing distance, STM autofocus motor, 9-blade aperture, 58mm filter thread, and USB-C firmware support. Dimensions remain essentially unchanged at 69 × 69 × 76mm, although weight drops slightly to 320g. On APS-C, the lens gives roughly a 135mm equivalent field of view, offering another option for those who prefer a bit of a tighter framing and more compression. Both lenses are available for Sony E, Nikon Z, and Fujifilm X mount systems. The Viltrox AF 75mm f/1.8 EVO is priced at $420, while the AF 90mm f/2.2 EVO comes in $465.
