The Latest Sony A7R VI Rumours

New Sony a7R VI camera rumours and leaked specs are making the rounds, and if they hold up, this could be one of Sony’s more interesting high-resolution cameras in a while. The a7R VI is rumoured to arrive before November 2026, landing ahead of the next Alpha 7S model. It is also said to already be in limited testing, which usually means Sony has moved beyond early concepts and is now fine-tuning how the camera behaves in the real world.

Inside, the a7R VI is expected to feature a fully stacked full-frame sensor with roughly 80 megapixels. That sensor would be paired with a new BIONZ XR2 processor and up to 8.5 stops of in-body image stabilisation. Continuous shooting is rumoured at up to 30 fps with 14-bit RAW, along with RAW pre-capture and 60 fps AE/AF tracking. Sony also seems to be pushing further into computational photography, with talk of 16-frame high-resolution composites and up to 32-frame noise-reduced composite shooting. In terms of handling, the grip is said to be deeper (more like the A1 II) and the rear screen is reportedly about 50 percent brighter as well.

Video looks solid but clearly not the main focus. There is no open-gate recording, no RAW video, and no 6K HEVC. Instead, the rumoured/leaked specs include full-frame 10.9K oversampled 8K 30p, APS-C 7.1K oversampled 4K 60p, and full-frame 5.5K pixel-binned 4K 120p. For photos, dynamic range is said to edge out the a7R V in electronic shutter mode, with 16+ stops available when using the mechanical shutter. Pricing will likely be in the $3,999–$4,499 range.
