Samyang Teases New Lens

Samyang has started teasing a new lens with the slogan “Lighter. Faster. Closer.”, although the company has not yet revealed exactly what product is on the way. The teaser comes at a time when several future Samyang lens projects have already appeared in rumours, making it difficult to tell whether the upcoming announcement is something completely new or one of the lenses that has been discussed over the past year. The teaser also carries Schneider-Kreuznach branding, continuing the collaboration between Samyang and the historic German lens manufacturer.

Among the rumoured projects is a 20-50mm f/2 FE AF, although sources suggest that lens is still in the early stages of development and would not be expected before 2028 or 2029. A 28-85mm f/2-2.8 FE AF has also been mentioned, originally planned as a constant f/2 zoom before reportedly changing to a variable aperture design to help reduce size and weight. If development continues as expected, that lens could potentially arrive in late 2027. Further along appears to be a rumoured 28-135mm f/2.8 FE AF, which some reports claim is already in production and could be announced as early as late 2026.

There have also been rumours about more ambitious telephoto designs. One example is a 300mm f/4 FE OIS AF, which could become Samyang’s first lens with built-in optical image stabilisation. Reports have even suggested the possibility of an integrated 1.4x teleconverter, effectively turning it into a 420mm f/5.6 when needed. Another project that has surfaced is a 200mm f/1.8 FE OIS AF, although a lens like that would likely be expensive and technically challenging to produce. Separately, Samyang also showed a prototype 60-180mm f/2.8 zoom lens at CP+ early this year, which you can see in the right photo up top. For now, though, exactly which lens is behind the latest teaser remains a mystery.
