March is turning into a wild month for camera drops! Sony’s teasing a full-frame cinema camera, Fujifilm just launched the GFX100RF, and now Canon is jumping in with two new cameras dropping March 26.
Canon posted a teaser with a big “V” and two shadowy cameras. One is pretty obvious—it’s the PowerShot V1, a vlogging camera with 4K60p, Canon Log 3, and a built-in zoom lens. It was shown at CP+ in Japan, but this looks like its global launch.
The second camera? That’s the mystery. No EVF, but it might be interchangeable lens, which would make it the first Canon EOS R camera without a built-in viewfinder. Given the “V” theme, it’s probably video-focused. Canon’s pro video cameras have “C” names (like the EOS R5C), so this is likely for content creators, not Hollywood pros.
We’ll find out March 26!
