Compact cameras are making a comeback, and Canon is taking notice. They just launched the PowerShot V1 and are ramping up production, but demand is so high they can’t keep up.
Canon admits they didn’t see this coming and feels bad for making customers wait. They want to meet demand but aren’t rushing in blindly. After shutting down a major factory in 2022, they’re being careful not to overcommit to what could be a short-lived trend.
Instead of just re-releasing old models, they’re focusing on what today’s users actually want—like better video features.
Compact cameras are back, but Canon is playing it smart.
