7Artisans’ AF 135mm f/1.8 lens for Sony E-mount and Leica L-mount is here after previously being launched for Nikon Z-mount. The lens pairs a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture with autofocus and an all-metal body. It offers a 0.68m minimum focusing distance, uses an 82mm filter thread, and has a 18.4-degree angle of view.
On the inside, the lens uses a 16-element, 13-group optical design that includes six ED elements and five high-refractive index elements, which 7Artisans says help reduce chromatic aberration while maintaining sharpness across the frame. It also features a 12-blade aperture with a range from f/1.8 to f/16, while autofocus is handled by an STM motor. A floating focus system is included as well to help maintain image quality at different focusing distances. According to 7Artisans, the lens is capable of resolving sensors up to 60 megapixels and features HD nano multi-layer coatings to reduce flare and ghosting.
The all-metal body has dual customisable function buttons, an AF/MF switch, a clicked aperture ring, and a dedicated multi-function control ring. It also includes weather sealing, an anti-smudge coating on the front element, and an ergonomic grip design for improved handling. The lens measures approximately 91.2 × 130mm and weighs roughly 1,014g. The new Sony E and L-Mount versions are priced at $689.
