Ulanzi is back with a new Waist-Level Viewfinder, a small optical accessory that brings a bit of old-school shooting style back. It is designed for mirrorless and compact cameras and gives you the experience of shooting from the waist, a slower, more deliberate, and often less conspicuous way to compose. Inside, it uses a three-element, high-transmission optical setup that keeps the view bright and free of distortion, so what you see through it stays true to the final image.

The VF01 is built around a 28mm full-frame field of view, but it also includes bright frame-lines for 35mm and 50mm, letting you visualise your scene across three common focal lengths. Ulanzi says the finder looks its sharpest when focused at about five meters (16 feet) and one nice touch they added is a magnetic hood that flips open with one hand and blocks stray light, keeping the view clean even in bright conditions.

Mounting the viewfinder happens via a standard cold shoe meaning it works with a wide range of cameras, from Fujifilm’s X100 and X-T lines to Sony’s a6000 series, Nikon’s Zfc, Canon’s R100, and more. It weighs 63 grams and measures under two inches in each direction, so it is relatively compact. The VF01 is available for pre-order at $48, shipping November 6, 2025, in both Black and Silver finishes.
