Things have been relatively quiet around the upcoming Fujifilm X-T6 for quite a while, but a new round of rumours is now shedding a little more light on the expected successor to the X-T5.
One interesting detail involves a new film simulation. According to multiple sources, the simulation delivers “really deep and vibrant colours,” although no additional information has surfaced yet. That leaves plenty of room for speculation. It could be something similar to Velvia, which is already known for its bold and saturated look, or it could be an entirely new colour profile. For many Fujifilm users, film simulations remain one of the biggest reasons for choosing the system in the first place, particularly among photographers who prefer shooting JPEGs and getting a finished look straight out of the camera.
The second rumour centres on the camera’s ergonomics. Sources claim that the top-mounted control dials have been redesigned and are now more comfortable to use. While that may not be the kind of change that grabs attention on a spec sheet, it could make a noticeable difference in everyday use. The X-T5 received some criticism over its dial feel, with a lot of people finding them a little too loose. What still remains unclear is whether Fujifilm has also made changes to the photo/video mode switch, another area that has appeared frequently on photographers’ wish lists. For now, though, the X-T6 remains firmly in rumour territory, with more details likely to emerge closer to its expected September 2026 launch.
