The aF-1 is a new 35mm film point-and-shoot from Amsterdam design studio Analogue. Scheduled for release in early 2026, the camera wants to revive compact 35mm shooting with modern touches like autofocus and fully automatic film handling.
At the heart of the aF-1 is a fixed 35mm f/2.8 lens, designed using a Double Gauss optical formula. Focusing is handled by a LiDAR system, unusual for a film compact, which measures reflected light to deliver quick and precise focus from 0.7 meters to infinity. Shutter speeds range from 1/1000 of a second down to four seconds, and a built-in electronic flash offers a range of up to three meters at ISO 100. Film loading, winding, and rewinding are all automated, with DX-coded film read automatically to set ISO. The camera also includes a reverse Galilean viewfinder with framing guides and correction markers for close-up shots.
Analogue says the camera’s look is inspired by classics like the Olympus Mju and Contax T series, with a minimalist body meant for one-handed shooting. Pre-orders are open at €449.99 (around $566), with mass production scheduled to start in December.
