SmallRig just launched a $60 cooling fan for Canon’s EOS R5 and R5 II, aiming to keep things cool and let you record longer. It snaps onto the back of the camera and uses a 7,000 RPM fan with TEC cooling tech to push more air through.
Overheating was a big issue with the original R5, and while the R5 II is way better, it still has limits—especially in 8K. SmallRig says their fan more than doubles 8K/30p recording time at normal temps and boosts it by 30% in extreme heat (104°F/40°C).
Installation is super simple—just move the screen and snap it on. The fan is lightweight, low-noise, and even removable, so if you use multiple cameras, you can swap it with extra mounts. The only catch? It needs an external power source, like a V-mount battery.
