Samyang X Schneider-Kreuznach’s Upcoming Lens

LK Samyang and Schneider-Kreuznach have another interesting full-frame zoom lens coming for Sony E-mount, this time covering everything from wide-angle to short telephoto without giving up the constant f/2.8 aperture. The upcoming AF 28-135mm f/2.8 FE was first shown as a prototype at IBC 2025, and we now have much more detailed specifications ahead of its planned February 2027 release. It is a pretty unusual zoom range for an f/2.8 lens, going much further at the long end than the typical 24-70mm or 28-75mm options.
Inside, the lens uses 20 elements arranged in 16 groups, with Samyang’s UMC coating to reduce reflections and flare. Autofocus is handled by a VCM motor, while the front element gets a water- and oil-repellent coating and the body is weather-sealed. Minimum focusing distance changes from 27cm at 28mm to 73cm at 135mm, with maximum magnification sitting at roughly 0.2x. There is also a nine-blade aperture, an AF/MF switch and an aperture range extending from f/2.8 down to f/22. The lens will take standard 82mm filters.
Of course, covering 28-135mm at a constant f/2.8 means it is not particularly small. The lens apparently weighs 854g and measures 151mm long when retracted, extending to around 190mm at the long end. That still makes it lighter than Samyang’s 1,224g 35-150mm f/2-2.8, although you are giving up some range and the brighter aperture at the wide end. Pricing has not been announced yet, but the AF 28-135mm f/2.8 FE is now scheduled to arrive in February 2027.
